What were the Patriots' advantages and disadvantages at the beginning of the Revolutionary War?

The Patriots had many advantages. The first one was that they believed in independence. They also defended homes and family members. They had a great advantage of knowing the base of the land and being familiar with the forests, the trails, the hills, and the coastlines. The last advantages they had was that they had a huge size of 13 colonies which gave a struggle for British to take control. The Patriots also had many disadvantages. The first disadvantage would be that their militias were weak. They only had 5,000 soldiers who were not well trained or well disciplined. Officers had little training. The last disadvantage would be that none of the soldiers were paid.
