How did the war progress in the southern colonies?

When the French entered the war the British decided to change their strategy. The British were concentrated on conquering colonies in the South. They knew that there were more loyalists to the King except they didnt know that there were less loyalists then they thought. The British's strategy was successful. They defeated the Patroits in the battles at Savannah and Charleston, The battle at Camden, and the battles at Cowpens and Guilford Courthouse.

What events finally ended the war?

The Revolutionary War ended when the treaty of peace was signed by the British Parliament, but before that the battle of Yorktown ended the Revolutionary War because many people grew tired of the war and didn't care who won as long as the war ended, which led to the peace treaty.

How did the Battle of Saratoga affect foreign aid to the Patriots?

The Battle of Saratoga was known as one of the greatest battles ever fought in America.In the summer of 1776 a army lead by Sir William Howe invaded the New York area. His Troops defeated our less trained army. The victory of Saratoga was a turning point in our independence.The French sided with the Patriots and supplied them with weapons and ammunition. With the victory, this gave French hopes of us having the ability to win wars. The French signed the Treaty of Paris and sent us supplies and even there navy to help us.

What was the Patriots' strategy at Trenton and Princeton?

On December 26, 1776 in Trenton, New Jersey a surprise attack on the Hessians happened. The strategy was to surprise the Hessians so they would have little time to react. With this, George Washington lead his troops during the night which surprised the Hessians. Patriots took hundreds of prisoners. There were 2,400 soldiers and 18 cannons. Only 10 soldiers suffered casualties. There were only 1,500 Hessians defending Trenton. The troops were in two columns, half of the soldiers attacked the Northeast and the other half attacked the North. Troops tried to prevent Hessians from escaping. About 900 Hessians were captured, 100 killed, and 500 escaped. The Patriots celebrated there victory in Princeton which boosted everyone's hopes.

What Problems did the Patriots face in Canada and New York?

During the year 1776 the patriots invaded New York City. New York was the stage point of where most of the drama happened. The troops had defeated George Washington's less trained army. They then planned to move to Canada which then they would have started the Saratoga war.

The Patriots had many advantages. The first one was that they believed in independence. They also defended homes and family members. They had a great advantage of knowing the base of the land and being familiar with the forests, the trails, the hills, and the coastlines. The last advantages they had was that they had a huge size of 13 colonies which gave a struggle for British to take control. The Patriots also had many disadvantages. The first disadvantage would be that their militias were weak. They only had 5,000 soldiers who were not well trained or well disciplined. Officers had little training. The last disadvantage would be that none of the soldiers were paid.

Why was the Declariation of Independence written? What issues were and were not adressed in the Declaration of Independence?

The Declaration of Independence was written as a foundation of the U.S. It showed the freedom from Britain. It also made several more colonies that had formed together and created the United States. The list stated some colonial disagreements that went against King George. It also said the importance of happiness, freedom for everyone in the country. The Declaration of Independence did not address the wars or the way Britain treated the 13 colonies. 

What was Common Sense and how did it influence the Colonies?

Common Sense is a pamphlet made by Thomas Paine in 1776. It took a full year to write the pamphlet. The pamphlet proves a list of positive reasons why colonists should approve the war for independence. This pamphlet was made to influence unsure colonists to support war and gain independence. It also gave the colonists the confidence they needed to start the war. This pamphlet showed the colonists that they deserved to be treated equally.

What Tasks did the Second Continental Congress accomplish and why?

The Second Continental Congress had the task of carrying out the American Revolution, and moved slowly towards independence. They also raised armies, directing strategies, appointing diplomats, and making formal treaties. The congress acted as national government of what is now the United States. In 1781, the congress also became known as the congress of confederation. They also prepared the Articles of Confederation. These resolutions helped tell people to arm themselves against the British. They prepared this to help bring freedom and form militias to fight in wars.

The First Continental Congress and the battles at Lexington and Concord affected the colonies' conflict with Britain because they both influenced the war. The First Continental Congress encouraged the colonists to not import British goods which upset the British. The Battles at Lexington and Concord happened when one person shot by mistake and then the British started shooting at the Colonists. Britain parliament found out about the colonists storing weapons and ammunition and so they shipped to America. When the colonists heard of this, they took all the weapons and ammunition and hid them in the surrounding cities. Both, the battles of Lexington and Concord and the First Continental Congress, moved America forward in their plan to gain independence.
